Contests: A New Spin On Attraction Marketing

Sometimes, the only marketing tools you need are: A brain and a physical store. Have both? Then this one is for you!

Let’s say you need more business. Because – well – who doesn’t? So come up with something that will sell itself that you can host in your store location, even if it has nothing whatsoever to do with your store. Here’s an example:

Let’s say you have a beauty supply company (I’m making this up as I go, so don’t expect phenomenal creativity ALL the time.) How about hosting a dog fashion show? A ‘cutest baby’ contest? A frog puppeteering competition? You get the idea. If it’s a compelling enough concept, word of it will spread like wildfire. Putting some phone pole flyers, social media, web site & storefront hype, and web content to work for you wouldn’t hurt either. You could offer prizes of either free product, gift certificates to local establishments, or the king of all prizes – cold, hard, cash. Heck, Weird Uncle Pete could even emcee. Especially if there’s poodles involved because, well, he has that certain, shall we say, ‘unique penchant’ for them that we’ve mentioned before.

So be creative, and make it happen!
